I’ve read A LOT of books and have seen A LOT of tropes, so I would like to publish my first ever list of tropes from worst to best!
10. cheating- my god. what?
9. wedding fever/runaway bride- uhm why are we running away?! mildly concerned
8. secret identity- I don’t like how much they both lie during these then the girl just forgives and forgets he pretended to be someone else like- what?!?!
7. best friends brother/sister- pretty good just makes me annoyed if it’s not done right..
6. holiday romance/fling- NO. WHY. DATE TO MARRY NOT THIS PLEASE.
5. arranged marriage- I don’t know about this.. unless it’s like the 1830s who actually does this?? (I’m probably not very cultured)
4. soul mates- really cute if done right!
3. friends to lovers- if it’s just not telling us their relationship and why they’re friends and they randomly kiss it’s not worth it. if there’s depth IM ALL IN!!
2. forced proximity- if it’s crazy/highly unlikely like they both have allergies and sit at the allergy table in school but then both get reactions and get hospitalized together I cant do it. depth is also good for this one.
- ENEMIES TO LOVERS- yes it can be overused but HOLY LORD IF YOU CAN PULL THIS OFF YOU’RE A GODDESS. I’M CHANGING MY RELIGION FOR YOU.
