A Study In Drowning Book Review ❀

🧚 Enter The Hollow 🌸
Halloween!! (Nov 3 2025)

This Halloween was my favorite..ever. We started out at my cousins house, showing off our costumes- they were all from Alice In Wonderland, and I was Judy Hopps from Zootopia! Their neighborhood is ALWAYS exciting- neighbors hand out pizza, apple cider, popcorn, king size candy bars, and even have bonfires and movies going!! We saw sooo many cool costumes, and amazing decorations- we even had our fortune read!!

The boys kept saying 6 7 and someone even had a whole 6 7 costume!! Someone would shout out “six sevennn!!” and others would respond as if they were talking some code language it was so weird!!

I filled my bucket with ONLY chocolates and Haribo gummy bears, whilst everyone else collected as much as they could possibly ever get.. Me and my cousin (L) saw BADDIE VECTORRR!!! She was so sweet when I told her I loved her costume- and I did. It was literally so amazing, she was suchhh a diva.

We started trick or treating at about 6:15, and ended up staying out till about 9:00, when everyone was going home! Unfortunately I got sick right when I woke up the next morning from shouting all night and playing around- but I’m finally getting better, and I don’t regret it one bit. It was the best halloween ever!

Nayarit Vacation!! (Oct 29 2025)

A week ago, my family along with all my cousins and their families went to Nayarit, Mexico for vacation. We hung out on the beach, played with the local dogs, collected hermit crabs, and spent A LOT of time in town shopping! The first place we visited was Libyitu, and it was beautiful!! I honestly would love to live there because of how lively the atmosphere was! There was always music playing, little kids running barefoot holding surfboards, restaurants, and shoppers going in and out of tiny boutiques!! We shopped around and eventually went to a restaurant and ordered mango smoothies, ceviche, and tacos! (I got pizza. yes, I know I eat like a five year old. That pizza was the BOMB though.) And afterwards we went back to the Airbnb and swam in the ocean! Every single time we would go in the water, we would (attempt) to go past the break and we would all get wiped out by the biggest waves EVER. One time we were all in the ocean and my cousin (lets call her A) yelled out saying her foot was hurting and something was pinching her, so A pulled her foot out of the water for a split second and we all thought it was a rock but A kept yelling that something wouldn’t come off. So her mom came over and lifted her foot up and we all realized there was A LITERAL BABY CRAB HOLDING ONTO HER TOES WITH BOTH PINCHERS UPSIDE DOWN. So A’s mom literally flicked the crab off and dropped A’s foot as we all started laughing looking at A faking being mad. Little did we know there was a giant wave that would topple us all in 3 seconds. By the time we were done we had about an extra 2 pounds in sand. We went for dinners and even had formal dinners at the airbnb with food that the chefs (Sophia and Edgar) made!! One of the best parts of the trip was that everyone would watch Sophia and Edgar wondering if they were siblings or dating. One night my uncle got so tired of us yapping that he just went up to them, pulled up google translate and just..asked. Edgar started grinning and said yes while all us cousins started laughing and celebrating (I think I’ve raised them to be hopeless romantics..) Anyways, we had the best trip ever and that wasn’t’t even half of it, so I’ll post another blog in my ‘Digital Diary’!!

Re-doing My Tortoise’s Cage! (Oct 9 2025)

Today I re-did my tortoise-Pretzel’s- cage and omg he LOVED it!! We (me and my brother) first took all the old soil and rocks out, along with his water and food bowls- it was so dusty that we needed masks to not breathe in the dust. We took out all the newspaper and cardboard at the bottom and got to decorating! We then put in a layer of top soil for the base then added some substrate made from coconut husks to make a better home for Pretzel. We added in some hay so he can burrow properly and he can use it for warmth since it’s finally getting colder out. This was the first time we actually put hay and the substrate in so we wanted to try it out to see how he liked it. I’m going on vacation soon so we put in this small calcium block filled with lettuce and other dried greens and so far he hasn’t even looked at it but we are hoping he realizes it’s food and not a literal rock.. I researched what else will help him eat the block and he could be losing his appetite from being dehydrated or needing to be warmer. Anyways when we finally put him back in his house he walked in circles, moved around the hay then went straight to bed so I’m guessing he liked it.

Hosting PE (October 1 2025)

Today is the first day of October (TLOAS IS COMINGG) so I got to host PE at volunteering today!! I took five children outside to the big grassy area and had them do 3 sets of 10 jumping jacks. (they hated me for it *sigh*) Then we did a “high knees race” aka just doing high knees back and forth and they absolutely LOVED IT- it was so cute!! Next they had water and dramatically pretended to pant the whole time.. anyways we did little “balance beam exercises” which was basically just putting one foot in front of the other on the curb separating the grass and playground. Lastly, we played on the swings and I taught them how to play sharks and minnows! (two of the kids decided a mud fight was a good idea..) anyways I’m so glad I was able to do that today and had so much fun!

Homeschool Interview! (Sep 5 2025)

After volunteering Friday, I went upstairs to see Ms Husky, the general manager of the school and I talked to her about the obstacles and details of the school!

What was the hardest part about getting the school started?: The hardest part of getting the school started was the neighbors. Since we are in a neighborhood it was hard for some people to accept the fact that one of the homes was being renovated into a full blown school. Most of the neighbors had no worries but one man hated the parking lot and “traffic” (there’s no traffic) along with the smell of the horse- which you could only smell if you were in the backyard. Long story short, they hired an instigator, won the case and all was well.

What role do parents and the community play in supporting the school?: The parents and community play a big part in the school- they get almost all of the funding from them, as well as extra finances from bake sales or fundraisers!

What are the biggest challenges teenagers face when working in a school setting?: Being surrounded by a bunch of [crying] kids sometimes makes you a little..on edge. Other than that it’s mainly having to have a supervisor with you since we cannot leave you alone with the children [legally] if you are under 18.

What are some examples of responsibilities that might be given to a teen employee?: Doing laundry, helping out some of the teachers in the toddler/napper [kids under 6] rooms, helping the older kiddos learn letters and reading, and preparing work for the next week. I also learned about the income and outgoing finances and how they balance it, although I need to set up another interview for finer details!!

Beginning of Pure Magnolias! (Sep 2 2025)

Personally, I think of this as my digital diary…except it’s open for absolutely everyone on the internet!! (stay calm, stay cool..) I had an idea to blog about books, homeschool, and absolutely everything one day listening to Ultraviolence-(Lana helps me think), and so there I was in my room doing absolutely nothing to actually start the idea of this blog..until my mom hyped me up and HERE I AM! I actually couldn’t find a blog that was for homeschooled teens written by a homeschooled teen, that also had the most random things like book blogs and poems and random buttons and everything cool..I probably did not look hard enough so comment some good teen homeschooled blogs pls! Anyways I went on Pinterest and searched for hours and hours…for garlic bread recipes. Then I actually got to work and started my blog.. it has definitely evolved, unlike my own habits (getting distracted 24/7) and I’m veryyy proud of my blog now, although this was not my first idea for a blog. I first wanted it to be just books but as much as it’s amazing that’s just too…used. I found thousands of book blogs so I added homeschool blogs..then non fiction blogs..then poems..and now here I am straying quite far from what I originally wanted this blog to be: a girl blog. An actual online diary talking about the perfect makeup, perfume, pop culture, and just everything to pass the time. Basically my own version of Teen Vogue (probably named thegirlyblogger or something straight off of Tumblr.) I’ve actually dreamed of having a blog forever and let me tell you..this is not what I imagined. As much as I do love this blog, I want another. It’s like tattoos or buying books, after you get one you want another..and another..and soon there will be so many buttons on the enter page that I will have no more room. Most of my inspiration came from- and I will not lie- Pinterest. And also Teen Vogue. And maybe (definitely) Monet paintings. I wanted a blog that felt like Tumbler 2014 at its absolute peak but ended up with a Monet painting as a book blog. Sad, I know. BUT I had a realization that I am 2 people in 1 body. I am a Monet painting lover who loves books and soft love and girly makeup! I am also someone who wants to sit and eat garlic bread while scrolling on Pinterest looking at- no surprise here- garlic bread. While also probably wreaking havoc trying to find a perfect outfit for something 3 months away. So I tried to incorporate both of those sides of me into one blog and it’s perfect. Now I just need another blog because I am addicted. Obviously I need to do more research because there HAS to be a blog for homeschooled teens made by homeschooled teens out there just waiting for me to get up and look for it. I do have a word count I need to get to (700 WORDS-) and I don’t really have much more to say so uhm I can either recite the bee movie script or rant about something that has absolutely nothing to do with a blog. Now I present to you, the Bee Movie script (the beginning.)

According to all known laws of aviation, there is no way a bee should be able to fly.
Its wings are too small to get its fat little body off the ground.
The bee, of course, flies anyway because bees don’t care what humans think is impossible.
Yellow, black. Yellow, black. Yellow, black. Yellow, black.
Ooh, black and yellow!
Let’s shake it up a little.
Barry! Breakfast is ready!
Coming!
Hang on a second.
Hello?
Barry?
Adam?
Can you believe this is happening?
I can’t.
I’ll pick you up.
Looking sharp.
Use the stairs, Your father paid good money for those.
Sorry. I’m excited.
Here’s the graduate.
We’re very proud of you, son.
A perfect report card, all B’s.
Very proud.

Ma! I got a thing going here.
You got lint on your fuzz.
Ow! That’s me!
Wave to us! We’ll be in row 118,000.
Bye!
Barry, I told you, stop flying in the house!
Hey, Adam.
Hey, Barry.
Is that fuzz gel?
A little. Special day, graduation.
Never thought I’d make it.
Three days grade school, three days high school.
Those were awkward.
Three days college. I’m glad I took a day and hitchhiked around The Hive.
You did come back different.
Hi, Barry. Artie, growing a mustache? Looks good.
Hear about Frankie?
Yeah.
You going to the funeral?
No, I’m not going.
Everybody knows, sting someone, you die.
Don’t waste it on a squirrel.
Such a hothead.

And there ya go 806 words (807)

New Found Glory Concert! (Aug 28 2025)

On August 27 me and my dad went to see The Offspring with Jimmy Eat World and New Found Glory!! We hung out backstage and watched the New Found set then we hung out on the tour bus which was literally freezing (why. don’t torture me.) and soon I couldn’t take it so we went back outside to watch Jimmy Eat World (AYYYYY) and we got to see all the good, amazing, beautiful harmonious songs. (The Middle ily.) We did leave before The Offspring because I was falling over I was so tired but all in all it was a good night because I got TWO cookies!!! (they were the best cookies known to mankind- sugar cookies they could never make me hate you <3)

Volunteering!! (Aug 20 2025)

Every Wednesday and Friday I volunteer at a preschool and I’m in love with it. I go inside and say hi to the teachers and do whatever project they have for me. Last Friday I had four kids to do a craft with- we made our own hungry caterpillars with paper circles we painted green (with blue and yellow paint to teach them colors!) then glued on yellow paper in the shape of a caterpillar! After that, I went to the toddler room and I literally just sit there and sing and hang out with cute little toddlers..(especially you baby B and Baby Chris) Basically Baby B and Baby Chris just like to stare at me and if I smile at them they giggle and cover their faces and IT’S SO CUTE I LOVE THEM OMGGG!!

A Study In Drowning Book Review!! 8/20/2025

The reason I chose this book is 1. because I got it last Christmas and probably should read it, and 2. I’ve been dying to.

Summary: The book follows Effy Sayre, a young woman obsessed with a deceased author, Emrys Myridden, and his book about the Fairy King. Effy,an architecture student (despite her love for literature) is invited to Myridden’s estate by his son to refurbish and redesign it. While there she meets a young man named Preston, who believes Myridden was a fraud. They work together and uncover dark forces, mystery, and even Love. (yes capitalized the love is important.)

We start off by meeting Effy Sayre- she’s a very strong (and stubborn!) FMC,and she’s a really good character in my opinion!! The next person we meet is Ianto..now I cant give any spoilers but just keep your eye on this one. Now..Preston ❀ we LOVE Preston. We want MORE Preston. We can’t LIVE without Preston. In short he’s just…aghgresfatdfx

*SPOILERSSS SPOILERS DO NOT LOOK DO NOT SCROLL STOP READING SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS*

Now that we have that out of the way, my personal favorite scene was when Preston was cleaning up her knees after she jumped out of (BLEGH) “IaNtO’s” car. I know that’s most likely a very popular scene, in many books really but they just are always amazing- the-cleanup-battle-scar-reach-into-your-soul kind of scenes! The way the author described it was perfect- no one could’ve written that exact scene better. *chefs kiss*

This book- I am NOT kidding- this book made me scream cry and jump on my bed at 9:00 pm. THAT’S how good it was. The emotional rollercoaster I went through was not enough I’m already waiting to buy the second book. True story- I’m in my room reading this book at 9/10pm and it’s just a calm, normal read! NOT. THEY TOUCH HANDS. THEY. TOUCHED. HANDS. OH MY GOD. I WAS JUMPING ON MY BED AT 10PM FOR THIS BOOK. IT WAS A WIIIILD RIDE. And I WILL be re-reading this.

five stars.
